We held the Opening Enrollment Ceremony of the 2019 school year on March 4th at 11:00 AM at Han Sang-Dong Hall. This year, there is a total of 1,152 freshmen, including 940 undergraduate students, 201 graduate students, and 11 students at Women’s Theological Seminary. The total number of new International students is 99, 9 undergraduate students, 10 graduate students and 80 students at Institute of Korean Language Education (IKLE).

  


The first part of the ceremony was conducted by Pastor Shin Deuk-il, the head chaplain, following the prayer by Reverend Kim Hyung-Tae, the director of Kosin Institute. The Bible passage, Mark 2:1-5, was read by Elder Kim Jin-Wook, the chairman of the Kosin Fund Society. The sermon was given by Reverend Nam Woo-Taek, the president of Dae Yang-Joo, with the title of “Challenge Yourself” and the service was ended with the benediction by Reverend Choi Han-Joo, the chairman of Kosin Institute.

  


Reverend Nam Woo-Taek preached to the freshmen, "I hope you remember that a better future for us has not come yet and hope that you will remember the words of the paralytic going through the roof with faith and hope, and open a new path." He also said that he hopes the students will make their new dreams come true as a person who saves other people and changes the society with their friends and with Jesus.

 

The second part of the ceremony was conducted by Ryu Hwang-Gun, the director of School Administration. During the ceremony, there were the welcoming speech and the declaration of admission by President Ahn Min, the oath of admission by all freshmen, the awarding of scholarships to freshmen. Also, chairman Hwang Man-Sun gave words of encouragement, Ra Jeong-Chan, the CEO of Biostar Group, gave a congratulatory speech. The ceremony was continued with a freshmen, Choi Baek-Kyun celebrating with the piano performance of Professor Kwon Joon, the deliverance of Supporting Funds, the introduction of new faculties, and ended with the prayer by Reverend Ok Jae-Bu, the chairman of Kosin Institute.

Education, pledged to be faithful to the university life in earnest, and the ceremony was followed by the scholarship award ceremony, and a student of nursing program, received “Kosin Winsdom Scholarship,” with a full tuition fee for four years, short-term overseas language study opportunity, and benefits of the dorm.

  


Then, we delivered Han Sang-Dong Scholarship and Ye-Hyeon Dream Scholarship. The Han Sang-Dong Academy Scholarship was enforced for the first time in 2019, and is a program to train excellent talents who will devote themselves to the revival of the church and world missions following the spirit of Pastor Han Sang-Dong, the founder of Kosin University. Three students, Choi Baek-Kyun (Music Major), Kim Ji-Hyun (Christian Education Major), and Kang Hye-Young (Nursing Major), were selected. They will be trained as next-generation talents with full tuition for four years, benefits of the dorm, global empowerment training, and they are given a priority selection right for the overseas mission internships.

  


The Ye-Hyeon Dream is for cultivating and training talented people who will lead the cultural business field of our country by discovering excellent students from elementary schools to universities. In cooperation with Kosin University, they committed 160 million won to cultivate and train talented people. The university also delivered the Ye-Hyeon Dream Scholarship to two International students who are responsible for world missions, one from Music Major and one from Christian Education Major.

  


  


President Ahn Min welcomed the new students by saying, “The future of our country and the next generation will be changed through everyone who challenges here at Kosin University. And I look forward to seeing talented people like David and Joseph on the basis of faith.” He added, he hopes that this country will be changed through the new students and dreams a country with full of hope.

  


Chairman Hwang Man-Sun encouraged the students and said “Go beyond the meaning of survival, and think again about our existence, and open our future with courage and dreams with intelligence, responsibility, faith, dedication, and be people of God.”

 


Ra Jeong-chan, the CEO of Biostar Group, sincerely congratulated the new students on matriculating at Kosin University where there is full of love, that has dreams and fosters faithful students.

  


On this day, for the development of Kosin University and the cultivation of talented Christians, some institutes delivered scholarships with the love for the university. The amount of scholarships and the institutes were; 3 million won from Ye-Il Church, Head Pastor Cheon Hwan, 10 million won from Ulsan Southern Church, Head Pastor Kim Dae-Hyeon, 22 million from Ye-Hyeon Dream Scholarship, representative Kim Joo-Hee, 40 million won from Kosin Fund Society, chairman Kim Jin-Wook, 50 million won from Biostar Group, ECO Ra Jeong-chan, and 100 million won from Song-San Park Jae-Seok Cultural Scholarship Foundation, chairman Lee Geum-Ji.

  


The new professors who will be teaching are Nam Geum-Hee, who graduated from Kosin University and Yonsei University, majored in nursing specializing in adult and elderly welfare, and Professor Kwong Joon, who graduated from Seoul National University and studied at University Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria. Also, Professor Samuel Yoon, a world-renowned bass baritone vocalist, will meet with students as a special lecturer at Kohshin University.
